How Much a Professional Squarespace Website Costs in 2026
Most articles on this question are written by people who would rather not tell you their prices. We'd rather you knew before you email us, because the wrong-fit enquiry costs both of us a week.
Here is what we charge, what a typical project ends up costing, and what makes the number move.
Our rates
We bill at USD 150 per hour for US and international clients and CHF 125 per hour for Swiss clients. Retainer clients on a monthly support plan pay USD 125 per hour against a pre-agreed block.
Fixed-price projects are quoted from those rates after a scoping call. The quote is fixed; the hours are our problem.
What a Squarespace project costs, by type
These are the bands our quotes have landed in over the last two years. They exclude the Squarespace subscription itself and any third-party tools.
Brochure site for a service business (5 to 8 pages, contact form, one booking or CRM integration): USD 3,500 to 7,000. Two to four weeks from kick-off to launch, assuming copy and images arrive on time.
Content-heavy site (blog or resource library with categories and filtering, 10 to 25 pages, custom layouts for two or three page types): USD 7,000 to 14,000. Four to eight weeks.
Squarespace Commerce store (up to roughly 100 products, variants, shipping and tax set-up, order notifications, one or two integrations): USD 8,000 to 18,000. Six to ten weeks. Above a few hundred SKUs or with B2B pricing we usually steer you toward Shopify, and we'll say so in the first call.
Custom build with bespoke functionality (filtered publication libraries, interactive maps, member areas, multi-language, anything that needs real JavaScript rather than a plugin): USD 15,000 to 40,000. Eight to sixteen weeks.
Redesign of an existing Squarespace site on the same version: typically 60 to 80 percent of the equivalent new build, because content, domain, SEO settings and integrations already exist. A 7.0 to 7.1 upgrade is a rebuild, not a redesign, and prices like one.
Brand identity (logo, colour system, typography, guidelines) added to any of the above: USD 3,000 to 8,000.
What moves the price
Pages are not the main cost driver. These are.
How many distinct layouts you need. Ten pages on three layouts cost less than four pages on four layouts. Every unique page type is designed, built, tested on mobile and handed over.
Whether the copy exists. We don't write copy. If yours is ready and structured, we build against it. If it isn't, we can recommend copywriters we've worked with, but the project pauses until copy lands, and pauses cost money in restarts.
Integrations. Connecting a form to HubSpot with a native or Zapier connection is an hour or two. Syncing Squarespace orders into an ERP with custom field mapping is days. Ask us early and we'll tell you which one you're looking at.
Custom code. Squarespace covers a lot out of the box. When it doesn't, we write CSS and JavaScript via code injection. That is fast for visual tweaks and slower for functionality. A filtered, searchable library with 400 entries is a mini application, priced as one.
Migrations. Moving from WordPress, Wix or an old Squarespace 7.0 site adds content transfer, URL mapping and redirects. Budget USD 1,500 to 5,000 depending on page count and how messy the source is.
Languages. Every additional language roughly adds 40 to 60 percent of the base build for a manual multilingual set-up, or a Weglot subscription plus a day or two of configuration. We cover the trade-offs in our multilingual guide.
Speed of decisions. The fastest projects we've delivered had one decision-maker who replied within a day. The slowest had a committee. We're not being glib; it is the single strongest predictor of final cost after scope.
What you're paying for besides design
A professional build includes things a template-and-go site doesn't.
Performance work: image sizing, font loading, and the fade-in animation fix that stops Squarespace sites failing Core Web Vitals. SEO configuration: titles, descriptions, structured data that Squarespace doesn't add on its own, redirects, search console verification. Accessibility: contrast, focus states, alt text, labelled forms. Handover: a recorded walkthrough of your specific site and a written guide for the things you'll edit yourself.
You can get a site without those. It will look fine and underperform quietly.
The Squarespace subscription and other running costs
Squarespace raised annual plan prices in July 2026. Billed annually, Basic is USD 19 per month, Core USD 29, Plus USD 49 and Advanced USD 99. Most of our clients are on Core, because Basic charges a 2 percent transaction fee and doesn't allow code injection, and almost every professional build uses code injection.
Add to that: a domain (around USD 20 per year after the free first year), Google Workspace or Squarespace email, and any tools your site depends on such as Acuity Scheduling (USD 16 to 49 per month), Weglot (from USD 17 per month) or a CRM.
Ongoing support from us is optional. Our maintenance plans start with a quarterly check and go up to a monthly retainer with a set number of hours. Most clients with a live business need something, because Squarespace changes things and forms stop sending when nobody's watching.
How we quote
A 30-minute call. We ask what the site needs to do, who it's for, what exists already, and when you need it. Within two working days you get a fixed price, a timeline, and a list of what we need from you and when. No caveats in the proposal; those live in the statement of work you sign.
If the number doesn't fit, we'll say what we'd cut to make it fit, or tell you that a smaller studio or a template is the better buy. We've built more than 500 Squarespace sites, and we'd rather do the 501st with someone whose project actually calls for us.
Quick answers
Can I get a professional Squarespace site for under USD 3,000? Yes, from a freelancer using a purchased template with light customisation. That's a reasonable choice for a one-page site or a portfolio. It is not what we build.
Do you charge for revisions? Two rounds on design are included. Beyond that, we bill hourly. Most projects never reach round three because we agree on structure before we design anything.
Is the hourly rate negotiable? No. The scope is.
Do you work with clients outside Switzerland and the US? Yes. Most of our clients are in the US; the rest are in Switzerland, Germany, the UK and the EU.
What's the Squarespace Circle Platinum badge? It's Squarespace's top partner tier, based on the number of sites an agency has launched and kept on the platform. In practice it means we've seen most of the ways a Squarespace project can go wrong, and the fix for each.
Questions we get
Why is one quote USD 4,000 and another USD 12,000 for what sounds like the same site? Usually one of three things: the number of distinct layouts, whether integrations and custom code are in scope, and whether the higher quote includes performance, SEO and accessibility work that the lower one leaves out. Ask each bidder for a list of what's included after the design is approved. The difference is almost always there.
Can we pay in instalments? Yes. Fixed-price projects are billed 50 percent at kick-off and 50 percent at launch. Retainers are billed monthly in advance.
What do we need to have ready before you start? Copy in a document, images in a folder, logo files, brand colours if they exist, logins for the domain and any tools we'll connect, and one person who can make decisions. Projects that start with all six finish on time.
Do you build on Squarespace only? Squarespace is our specialty and most of our work. We also build on Shopify for stores that need it and on WordPress where the brief calls for it. If your project belongs on another platform we'll say so in the first call.
Is the Squarespace subscription included in your price? No. You hold the Squarespace account and pay Squarespace directly, which means you own the site and its billing from day one. We're added as a contributor and removed whenever you like.
How long after launch can we come back with changes? Two weeks of post-launch fixes are included on every project. After that, changes are hourly or covered by a support plan.
